Start with these. Each one exercises a different part of Ceviche MCP, and together they show you what it can do with your own books. Mention Ceviche the first time ("Using Ceviche, ...") so the assistant knows where to look. After that it usually works it out.

1. Check the connection

Using Ceviche, who am I connected as, and what's in our books?

You should get your name, role and team, then a short map: how many bills, lines, splits and fund invoices, the dates the bills cover, the currencies, and whether any bills have no date.

2. A spend total

How much did we spend in September 2026, and across how many bills?

One figure and one count. A good answer also says what the total covers, for example "voided bills are left out".

3. A breakdown by fund

How much was charged to each fund in Q3 2026?

A short table with one row per fund or entity, including the management company, and a total. Ceviche computes it from the splits, so it should tie to the transactions page filtered the same way.

4. One bill in full

Find our largest bill from June 2026 and tell me everything about it.

The vendor, date, reference number and amount; how many lines it has and where they stand (for example "28 Held, 11 New, 1 ManCo"); how it is split across funds; whether it has attachments or approvals; and an Open in Ceviche link to the bill.

5. What needs attention

What needs my attention on the books right now?

Bills not yet split to funds, splits waiting for approval, open fund invoices: whatever your team has. A good answer says "none" when there are none, and doesn't invent approvals that don't exist.

What a good answer looks like

  • Figures come from Ceviche. Totals are computed by Ceviche, not added up by the assistant. Ask "where does that number come from?" if you want to check.
  • It says what a total covers: the dates, the filter, and anything left out, such as voided bills or bills with no date.
  • It says when a list is partial, for example "showing 25 of 103", and offers the rest.
  • It names records the way the app does: "Harbor Legal LLP · 30 Jun 2026 · $12,400.00", with statuses such as "Ready to Invoice". It shows no internal IDs or codes.
  • It links back: "Open in Ceviche" goes to the bill's page in the app.
  • It says when nothing matched, and what it looked for, instead of quietly widening your dates.

If an answer misses one of these, say so in the chat ("give me the total from Ceviche", "is that the full list?"). The assistant has the tools to fix it. More on this in How answers look.
