Ceviche MCP is new. This page lists everything a user is likely to run into, so nothing comes as a surprise.
Which teams it reads
| Your team's setup | What happens |
|---|---|
| Books kept in Ceviche, no accounting system connected | Fully supported: all five tools read your records |
| Connected to QuickBooks Online | You can connect. The assistant can confirm who you are and which team it reached, but the tools say the team's records aren't available yet. |
| Connected to NetSuite | The same as QuickBooks Online |
| Card spend coming in from Ramp | The same as QuickBooks Online |
For a team that isn't covered yet, the consent page lists only "Your profile" and "Your team" under Read who you are, because that is all the assistant can read there. Support for these setups is planned, one at a time.
It only reads
There are no write tools. Ceviche MCP can't create, edit, approve, allocate, invoice, post, void or delete anything, in Ceviche or in any accounting system, and it can't move money. Do those in the app.
One team per connection
A connection reads the one team you belong to. Ceviche accounts belong to exactly one team, so there is no team picker. If an account belongs to more than one team, or to none, sign-in stops with "This connection request isn't valid". See Troubleshooting.
What is never returned
- Attached files themselves, and links to them. You get the file name, type and size.
- Vendor bank and wiring details, vendor contacts and internal owners.
- Email addresses, except your team members' own, from the team's member list. Any email address that appears inside a record's text comes through as "[email removed]".
- Web addresses inside records. They come through as "[link removed]".
- Your team's settings and configuration.
No journal entries
Teams the MCP reads today keep their books in Ceviche with no general ledger connected, so there are no journal entries, trial balances or account balances to read. Corrections are recorded as adjustments, and their correcting entries are part of the bills. Both are covered.
Dates
- Quarters and years are calendar periods. Ceviche doesn't store your fiscal year. For a fiscal-year question, give the dates: "July 2025 to June 2026".
- Bills with no date are outside every date filter. Answers say when they leave such bills out.
Currencies
Totals are per currency. Ceviche MCP never adds different currencies together and never converts them.
How much comes back at once
| What | Limit |
|---|---|
| Search results | 25 per page by default, up to 50. Totals always cover the whole match. |
| Totals by group | 50 groups per page by default, up to 200 |
| Grouping | Up to 3 dimensions at once |
| A record's linked records | 20 of each kind, or up to 50 when asked for in full |
| Name lists (funds, vendors, projects, members) | 200 per page |
| Size of one answer | About 28,000 characters. A longer answer is cut to fit, and says so. |
| Search text | Up to 1,000 characters |
| Long text in a record | Cut at 2,000 characters, with a mark that says so |
When an answer is partial, it says so and the assistant can ask for the next page. Totals never depend on the page: they are computed over everything that matched.
Links
Fund invoices have no "Open in Ceviche" link yet. Bills, their lines, splits, approvals and attachments, and projects do. See How answers look.
Assistants
Claude, Claude Code and ChatGPT are supported. Codex is coming. See Other assistants.
