While connecting

The consent page says Signed in as someone else's email. Your browser was already signed in to Ceviche as another person, for example a shared computer or a colleague's demo account, and Ceviche used that session.

Click Not you? next to the email. Ceviche signs that account out, asks you to sign in, and brings you back to the consent page. Or start again in a private browser window.

Don't click Allow with the wrong account: the connection would read that person's team as that person.

Account mismatch

This is a Claude screen, not a Ceviche one. It means the Claude account signed in to your browser is different from the one signed in to the Claude desktop app. The sign-in started in one account and came back in the other.

Sign in to claude.ai in your browser with the same Claude account as the desktop app, then connect again. Or add and connect Ceviche MCP from claude.ai in the browser.

Isn't turned on for your team

Ceviche MCP isn't turned on for Example Ventures

Ask your admin.

Ceviche MCP is off for your team. Your team's admin can't switch it on in the app; Ceviche does it. Ask your Ceviche contact or operations@ceviche.ai to turn it on. See Turn it on for your team.

The same words can appear after you click Allow, as "Ceviche MCP isn't turned on for Example Ventures.", if Ceviche MCP was turned off while the page was open.

This connection request isn't valid

This connection request isn't valid

Go back to the app and try connecting again. If it keeps happening, tell your Ceviche contact.

Usually one of these:

  • The sign-in link was changed or cut short. Start again from your assistant rather than reusing an old link.
  • The assistant isn't one Ceviche supports yet. See Other assistants.
  • Ceviche MCP was added with settings Ceviche doesn't accept, such as a client ID and secret typed into Advanced settings. Remove it and add it again with the defaults. See Connect Claude.
  • Your Ceviche account isn't on exactly one team. Tell your Ceviche contact.

After you click Allow, the shorter form "This connection request isn't valid. Go back to the app and try connecting again." means the same thing.

This page has expired

This page has expired. Go back to the app and connect again.

You clicked Allow more than 10 minutes after the consent page opened, or your team changed while the page was open. Start again from your assistant.

Your session has expired

Your session has expired. Please sign in again.

Your Ceviche sign-in ended while the consent page was open. Start again from your assistant; you'll be asked to sign in.

Try again in a few minutes. If it keeps happening, tell your Ceviche contact.

Our MCP server is briefly unavailable. Try again later. If it lasts, contact us.

Something went wrong

Something went wrong. Go back to the app and try again.

The Allow or Deny click didn't reach Ceviche, often because the connection dropped. Start again from your assistant.

Not connected

Not connected

Claude didn't get access. You can close this tab.

You clicked Deny. Nothing was shared. To connect, start again from your assistant and click Allow.

Couldn't reach the MCP server

A Claude message. Claude couldn't reach our MCP server. Check that the URL is exactly https://app.ceviche.ai/api/mcp, with the /api/mcp path and no slash at the end. If it is, and the message persists, your network may be blocking app.ceviche.ai, or something is wrong on our side. Contact us with the time it happened and the reference ID Claude shows (it starts with ofid_).

Authorization with the MCP server failed

A Claude message. The sign-in didn't complete. Start again from Customize > Connectors. If it keeps failing, remove Ceviche MCP, add it again with the default settings, and contact us with the ofid_ reference ID if it still fails.

The MCP URL shows an error in my browser

Opening https://app.ceviche.ai/api/mcp directly in a browser shows a short message that no authorization was provided. That is normal. The address is for assistants, which sign in first. Add it to your assistant instead.

While using it

The assistant says your team's records aren't available

The assistant reports something like "Ceviche can't read this team's records through this connection yet". Your team's setup, for example QuickBooks Online, NetSuite or Ramp card spend, isn't covered by Ceviche MCP yet. The connection itself works: the assistant can tell you who you are and which team it reached. Nothing else can be read yet. See Limits.

The assistant says it couldn't read your team's setup

The assistant reports that Ceviche couldn't read the team's setup and returned nothing rather than guess. Your team's configuration in Ceviche needs checking. Contact us.

The assistant says it couldn't read from Ceviche

The assistant reports that a tool "could not read from Ceviche". A lookup failed on our side. Ask again. If it keeps failing, contact us with the time and the question you asked.

The assistant stopped using Ceviche

  • Check that Ceviche is switched on for the chat: the + button in the message box, then Connectors.
  • Check Customize > Connectors. If Ceviche shows Reconnect or Connect, the connection has ended: you disconnected it, it went 30 days unused, you left the team, or Ceviche MCP was turned off for your team. Click it to sign in again.
  • Check Linked Accounts > Connections in Ceviche. If the row is gone, the connection was ended on Ceviche's side.

A total looks wrong

Ask the assistant what the total covers. Every Ceviche total comes with the dates, the filter and what was left out. The usual reasons a figure differs from what you expected:

  • Voided bills are left out unless you ask for them.
  • Bills with no date are outside every month, quarter and year.
  • Bills, lines and splits differ. A bill total counts the whole bill, lines taken out of it included. Spend counts only the lines still on the bill. A fund's figure counts only that fund's share of each split.
  • Quarters are calendar quarters. Ceviche doesn't know your fiscal year.
  • More than one currency. Totals are per currency and never combined.
  • The assistant added numbers itself. Ask it to "get the total from Ceviche". It should never add up a list.

If a total from Ceviche MCP still doesn't match the app with the same filter, tell us. Every total is computed by Ceviche, so a difference is a bug we want to fix.

The answer only shows part of the list

Answers come a page at a time. The assistant should say "showing 25 of 103" and offer the rest. Ask for the next page, or ask a narrower question. Totals always cover the whole match, not only the page shown.

The assistant found nothing

The assistant should say exactly what it searched for. Check the spelling of names, or ask it to look for part of a name ("vendors with harbor in the name"). It won't widen your dates or amounts without asking.

An answer shows a code or an ID

The assistant is told never to show internal IDs, filter queries or tool names. Ask it to restate the answer with names. If it keeps doing it, tell us which assistant and model you were using.

The answer mentions text that "reads like an instruction"

A record's text, such as a note or a vendor name, looks like an instruction to an AI. Ceviche MCP flags it and tells the assistant to ignore it. Nothing happened. If the text isn't something your team wrote, you may want to check that record in the app.

Still stuck

See Support, or start again from the overview. Tell us the assistant you use, the time it happened, the exact message, and any reference ID the assistant showed.
